i-charging, a reference company in electric mobility technology, announces a strategic exclusive partnership with AGROLA AG for the Swiss market. The partnership was officially signed with the opening of the first public AGROLA e-truck charging station in Konolfingen (BE), Switzerland, a milestone in the country’s transition toward sustainable heavy-duty transport.
Under the exclusive agreement, AGROLA AG becomes the sole authorised provider of i-charging solutions in Switzerland, positioning both companies to capture growing demand for both passenger and commercial electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The partnership comes at a critical juncture as both Switzerland and the European Union accelerate regulations mandating the transition of heavy-duty fleets to zero emissions.
“This is a landmark opportunity for i-charging. Being AGROLA AG’s exclusive partner in Switzerland is a recognition of the quality and innovation we deliver in our solutions. This exclusivity agreement demonstrates the confidence AGROLA AG places in our technology and establishes a strategic foundation for scaling our innovation across the Swiss market,” states Pedro Moreira da Silva, CEO of i-charging. “Together, we’re building the infrastructure that will enable genuine electrification of light vehicles and of road freight transport.”.
This project follows i-charging’s recent EP2 certification for its i-light and blueberry chargers, confirming full compliance with Swiss market requirements.
Advanced Technological Solution
The installation inaugurated by AGROLA AG integrates the core attributes of i-charging’s technology: energy efficiency, intelligent charge management, remote monitoring, and adherence to international safety and cybersecurity standards. Designed specifically for heavy-duty electric vehicles, the system ensures rapid, reliable charging with minimal operational downtime, a critical factor for logistics and transport operators.
The configuration includes:
- Two i-light user interfaces
- Dynamic power allocation of 600 kW across both outputs, enabling constant high-power charging for e-trucks
- One blueberry user interface with two outputs, delivering up to 500 kW peak power per plug for light-duty vehicles, with 600 kW dynamically allocated to each plug
- Total installed capacity of 1.2 MW, expandable to 8 MW
- Infrastructure ready for four additional charging outputs
To support the site’s sustainability goals, AGROLA AG installed a photovoltaic system generating around 340 MWh of solar energy per year, complemented by an energy storage system and an AGROLA MicroGrid™. This intelligent local grid distributes solar energy according to real-time demand, minimizes peak loads, and maximizes on-site energy consumption, ensuring efficient, reliable, and resilient operation.
“The collaboration with i-charging is an important step towards jointly creating innovative solutions for tomorrow’s mobility and driving forward the energy transition in Switzerland”, stated Daniel Bischof, CEO of Agrola AG.
International Momentum
This partnership joins recent i-charging announcements, including the EVerged project in San Diego. The AGROLA AG agreement reinforces the company’s expansion strategy into high-demand markets with stringent technical and regulatory requirements.
The Swiss commercial electric vehicle market projects compound annual growth exceeding 40% through 2030, driven by the private sector and federal incentives.
